High school "George Moroianu" has functioned since 1873. In 1990, the school receives the name of the famous scientist and diplomat George Moroianu from Sacele, Rector of the Academy of Commercial and Industrial Advanced Studies in Cluj. Our little town Sacele is located in the metropolitan area of Brasov, the third largest city in Romania.
The current structure of the school is designed on three levels of education: primary, secondary and high school being the total number up to 900 students between 5 - 19 years old. Many of our students come from difficult social and economic environments. Also, many students are from families affected by unemployment. A small percentage of Roma students face higher material shortages that have repercussions on their learning ability. Also, the school has students from orphanages or foster care, but also a number of pupils with special educational needs on an intellectual level.
The main educational languages are Rumanian and Hungarian for primary and secondary level. Primary has 19 classes, 14-language teaching in Romanian and Hungarian 5. Secondary education comprises 12 classrooms, 4-language teaching in Romanian and Hungarian 4.
High school includes 8 Romanian-language classes. There are two main profiles: humanistic - with real profiles and philology - the profile of natural sciences.
The teaching staff has almost 60 teachers. Teachers and students from our school develop educational projects targeting many current global issues, participating in school competitions, sports competitions and cultural events, locally, nationally and internationally.
The last improvement of our school consists in a new modern gym which has been inaugurated last year.
We have a children choir in the school at the primary level conducted by me. A few students playing guitar, other students studying singing voice.
We have talented students too on writing, drawing, drama or sports.
This school year I have 3rd grade class. I am the coordinator of a Comenius project for my school. Also I am the coordinator of educational projects and programs in our school.
I play guitar and singing with voice, I like to read but my time is so busy that I really don't have time for reading... I love sudoku and "go" (Japanese game) and I teach my students this games. I have written a professional book about stress at teachers for kindergarten and primary school.
I have 23 students, very hard school worker! We have participated in local, national and international projects and contests because we like to learn and discover our world and its beauties.
